Tiffin-Seneca United Way Community Campaign Falling Far Short of Annual Goal; Duck Race Event to Help Meet Local Funding Needs
The theme for the 2023-2024 Tiffin-Seneca United Way Community Campaign is “We all need somebody to lean on,” and TSUW remains committed to facilitating and funding support for local individuals and families in need. In addition to their funded nonprofit partners, TSUW’s newly launched 2-1-1 resource and referral helpline, combined with the TSUW First Call for Help fund, makes assistance available to every local resident 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Tiffin-Seneca United Way’s annual Community Campaign follows their current fiscal year and will wrap up at the end of April. Usually by this time, they are closing out the campaign and beginning to focus on their local nonprofit partners for the new funding cycle. Unfortunately, this year they are only nearing the halfway mark to their goal and ongoing funding for their partners is in jeopardy.
“As of March 1st, we are at 43% of goal, so we’ve got some ground to make up,” said David Stover, TSUW Board President. “We’ve had some transitions this year and workplace donations have been down a little. But we are all working hard to close this campaign at as high a mark as possible.”
The TSUW Community Campaign funds programming for more than 20 primary and associate nonprofit partners working to fill Seneca County with successful children, healthy families, and self-sufficient residents. These local partners are feeding children and families, enhancing the quality of life for local seniors, providing emergency shelter and necessities, offering low-cost childcare, pairing at-risk youth with local mentors, and more. You can find a list of current partners and make a campaign donation at tiffin-seneca-unitedway.org.
Tiffin-Seneca United Way is holding Duck, Duck, DONATE: Race to the Goal as a final fundraiser for the current Community Campaign. The rubber duck race down the Sandusky River will take place during local Tiffin St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Saturday, March 16, with the ducks launching from the Perry Street bridge at 4 pm and ending at the Washington Street bridge. The owner of the first duck to cross the finish line will win a $500 cash prize donated by an anonymous supporter of Tiffin-Seneca United Way. Details and ducks are available at tiffin-seneca-unitedway.org/duck-duck-donate.
